Adopted! Dugg! Happy Tails!

Hi Doodle Fans, it’s me Dugg. Today I get to share the best news ever - I've been adopted!

For a long time, I wasn’t sure this day would come. I have a condition called cerebellar hypoplasia which makes me unsteady on my feet and gives me a signature full-body shake (my foster mom says I just tremble with love). I needed to find the perfect hoomans who would be willing to work around some of the restrictions my condition causes. I can't do things like stairs, pools, and heights so the CDR team knew it would take a really special family to find my match! Thankfully I had an amazing foster mom who helped me get comfortable within my boundaries and learn new methods for working around my shakes. She believed in me, and she saw past my restrictions into the giant doodle heart underneath all my fluff. Thanks to the wonderful work of CDR and my foster mom's commitment, none of the restrictions from my condition got in the way of finding my perfect match.

CDR worked tireless to identify the right adopters and when they found my perfect match, my new family didn't even flinch when hearing about my special case. They saw past the unsteady steps to the steady heart underneath. They saw my gentle soul, my quiet bravery, and my goofy charm. For the first time ever my life, I heard "You belong with us".

Now, I have humans who lift me when I need it, laugh when I play tug with my whole heart, and celebrate every single moment we spend together. I sleep soundly at night, I walk proudly (if a bit wobbly) by their side, and I’ve never felt so loved or understood.

To everyone at CDR and every kind soul who cheered me on - thank you for believing that a differently-abled doodle like me deserved the very best. Cheers to furever! - July 2025 adoption

Our Mission

California Doodle Rescue is a 501 C-3 non-profit (EIN 88-0967716) dog rescue.

Our mission is to rescue, foster, and find safe loving homes for poodle mixed breed dogs affectionately known as 'Doodles'. This includes Labradoodles, Goldendoodles, Aussiedoodles, Bernedoodles, Sheepadoodles, and many more.

We support and promote humane animal regulation through the encouragement of neutering and spaying of dogs, to promote quality medical treatment and care of such dogs, and to provide suitable long term facilities for the humane care and treatment of lost and abandoned poodle mixed breed dogs.

We promote concepts of nonviolence and unconditional love for animals, no kill shelters in California, and to provide a safe haven for neglected, abused and unwanted poodle mixed breed dogs.

We also provide educational opportunities to persons desiring to learn about dog rescue organizations, puppy mills and hoarding situations, as well as the proper care, treatment and medical attention required by dogs.

About Us

Our directors are doodle enthusiasts, who have had extensive experience working with national dog rescues. During this time, they recognized an immense demand for rescuing doodles right here in California. So, in February 2022, they established a 501 C-3 non-profit rescue that serves California residents. Since then, California Doodle Rescue has re-homed and adopted over 3,000 doodles to loving families across the state.

While our directors are based in Southern California, we do not have a physical facility. Instead, we operate by fostering doodles in private volunteer homes until suitable adoptive families are found. This is made possible by dedicated and wonderful volunteers. Without their help, these doodles may otherwise end up in shelters.

We rely on adoption fees and your generous donations which are highly valued and deeply appreciated. Your contributions assist us in covering  essential operating expenses such as fostering costs and pet supplies, paying for expensive veterinary bills, and facilitating transportation for these precious doodles.
